Hospitals Increasingly Susceptible to Data Breaches, Says Study
Business associates of hospitals that handle confidential patient information are not adequately prepared to defend against a data breach that could expose information to hackers who could use it for identity theft crimes. According to research from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Analytics commissioned by ID Experts, 50 percent of large hospitals reported they had experienced at least one data breach in 2009.
